Sorry momma I’m on those pills again
This week’s been hard on me and I could use a friend
To keep me from reaching for that old vice
It isn’t healthy you ain’t gotta tell me twice
But I ain’t got no one to call on the phone
And lord knows I shouldn’t be alone
Handouts are getting rare these days
Ain’t nothing free no more not even lemonade
It’s hard to live and learn you know I try
But life gives you lessons that you can’t swallow dry
You gotta wash em down with something that’s got a little heat
And chase 'em with something kind of sweet
I try and focus on what’s good
Keep living simple just like I should
And though I’ve left a lot of bad things behind
The ones I’ve held on to are weighing on my mind
They say it does a body good to just give up on them
But I caved and I’m on those pills again
One day I’ll learn how not to break when I should bend
Sorry momma, I’m on those pills again
